We start out taking a shower together which is a romantic go to for us. Maybe you enjoy taking a bubble bath together or one at a time. How about turning your bathroom into a steam room and using it together that way. This is something we usually do after kids are in bed.
5.Adventure picnic
- Pack up fun finger food
- Bring plenty of water
- picnic blanket
- outdoor wear and gear (i.e.sunscreen, small first aid kit)
- Find a fun outdoor space to explore.
This is a fun easy together outing that the whole family can enjoy. Bring field guides and binoculars, or walk a new trail. Find a place with new sights and can be fun to experience together. If you go to your local state or county websites they will have a list of some great places to explore, as well as some helpful advice to make you adventure safe. Also check the weather forecast before you head out to avoid not so fun weather.
6.Build your own sundae
- 2 or 3 different flavors ice cream
- chocolate and caramel syrup
- Whipcream
- sprinkles and marchino cherries
- Bananas and nuts
Ok so you probably know how to make a sundae, the point is more that it is a fun thing to do together. Buy all kinds of toppings, get out some bowls and spoons then either make your own how you like or make it a bit of a game by making one for each other guessing what the other likes. This is something that is fun to do where you can have good conversations and just enjoy each other company. The kids would probably enjoy this too, but you don't have to include them.
7. Drive-in movies
- Pack up movies snacks
- Bring drinks
- Bring along some camping chairs, pillows, and blankets
- Do not forget bug spray, and a first aid kit
You can do this in a variety of ways but may take a bit of research and planning. We have a local Drive in theater about 45 min drive away. Sometimes in the summer local parks will do movie nights, or you may have to rent or borrow a projector. This may or may not work for you, but for us it is an amazing night out. Our local Drive in doesn't charge for kids 12 and under, tickets are $8.50 which then gets you two new release movies. Our Drive in has three screens and plays 6 movies a night. They have a consesion stand but we usually bring some of our own snacks to cut costs. Usually by the second movie the kids are asleep and we get to watch it as a couple. Drive in movies are my favorite way to see movies, because I have my own space, I can sit outside or in my car, I can walk around. I also don't have to deal with large crowds really which is a bonus for me.
8. Backyard stargazing and bubbly
9. Cooking from scratch together
10. Cheese fondou and beer/wine
